How many times did we worry that we are not spending enough time with our family? The answer is often.

How many times did we sacrifice our personal life at the expense of our professional life? The answer is many times.

The answers I have mentioned above is same for most of us. We struggle to maintain balance between our professional and personal life, more often our professional life encroaches into our personal life. Why do we allow it to happen?

  1. Because we assume that stretching and keeping in touch with your profession is a type of performance which will be rewarded.
  2. You assume that it is an expressway to success.
  3. Because you think it is your style.

How many people do you think are at peace after sacrificing the personal life? No one. Now let me ask you whether you live to work or work to live? Obviously, we work to live.

Your performance, success in career, peace and satisfaction in life entirely depends on the balance you maintain between your two lives. The greatest motivator, performance booster, and stress reliever is the time you spend away from your profession by spending it in your personal life. The following tips will help you in balancing your life.

  1. Don’t act/Be yourself: Do not put up a false face at your profession, be yourself.
  2. Don’t interrogate.
  3. Learn to say no (for profession related requests).
  4. Do not worry as it produces unnecessary tension and fatigue.
  5. Do not procrastinate, the more you procrastinate the more you give chances to worry.
  6. Prioritize your problems.
  7. Tackle one problem at a time. Stop thinking about multitude of problems and doing nothing to resolve it.
  8. Never discuss your personal problems with your colleagues. Top reason for rumor and gossip about you.
  9. Stop checking your official mails at home. Any situation can wait for the next day.
  10. Stay in control of you emotion.
  11. Stop worrying on negative criticism. Who in this world have not been criticized?
  12. Lighter one: Put your mobile in silent mode when you are in your house. You can always call back if necessary.

Implement these tips and see a refreshing change both in your professional and personal life.
