A list of top bloggers and what they do to earn money

December 3rd, 2007  |  Published in Blogging, Money making

The bloggers in blogosphere have always been fascinated by the money earned by its top bloggers, a few among them openly tell their earnings whereas few does not reveal their incomes. Blogging as a hobby can be relaxing whereas prolific blogging or blogging with high frequency can lead to burnout called blogger burnout which is main cause for many wannabe star bloggers failing out in blogosphere. Its is due to the imbalance in efforts put in between the online and real world.

Many bloggers give into the temptation of blog fame and ignore the real world relationship which they are not able to sustain in long term. But few of these bloggers have managed themselves properly by balancing their personal and online lives. It is these few who become top bloggers and earn a lot of money. Many of the top bloggers who initially leveraged their real world contacts to enhance their online presence have become so popular that they are now leveraging their blogging contact to diversify into other areas of passive incomes. Let’s see what they do.

  1. Steve Pavlina: Steve is a inspiration for many of the wannabe bloggers and entrepreneurs. His blogs are about personal development, entrepreneurship, and realizing ones true worth. He writes 11 articles per month on an average that at a healthy rate of 1 article every 2.5 days. His articles are mostly over 4000 words in length and believes in quality of content and value creation. Steve’s writes articles about timeless properties such as how to become an early riser which can be applied to any period of time. The secret to his success is that his articles written several years back are now read with same enthusiasm by the readers.
  2. Michael Arrington (TechCrunch): Michael Arrington founder of TechCrunch employees multiple editors to write TechCrunch’s post. Employing other bloggers or editors is a enviable position which only few bloggers are enjoying. TechCrunch was writing about 5 posts a day at the beginning of this year 2007 (Jan) and around 11 posts a day towards the end of this year 2007 (Nov). TechCrunch’s posts are generally around 300 to 500 words in length and speak about the latest developments in technology and devices.
  3. Problogger: Darren Rowse writes articles and tutorials about blogging. He makes his blog very interactive by conducting multiple surveys and polls about the experiences of other bloggers. Darren writes about 70 to 80 posts a month which is about 2.5 to 3 posts a day. His surveys are very popular among the blogger community who flock to his website to know about blogging statistics and how well the others are doing.
  4. Al Carlton and Scot Jones of Self Made Minds write tips and tricks about blogging and money making. They write a post every day and they recently earned $1000 on a day with adsense.
  5. John Chow is again in the same category of bloggers mentioned above. He makes living by writing tips and tricks and about blogging. He does a lot of paid reviews about sites and businesses.ֲ  John’s earning is completely independent of Adsense which sets him apart from other bloggers. So if you are a blogger bitten by Adsense then keep a track of his ways of making money online.
  6. Shoe money speaks SEO, blogging and related topics and whatever told above also applies to him.
